Rebate Hassle

By | April 4, 2007

I bought a NetGear Wireless Router in December of 2006 from Buy.com and submitted a rebate for $10. Last week, they mailed me a postcard indicating that they have denied my rebate request. The message was, “Invalid Purchase Location.”

That’s interesting, because Buy.com posted the rebate promotion up on their site during my purchase. So, I called up the Rebate center. I had to go through a series of automatic messages that never seems to end, and they would not let me connect to a live operator directly. When I finally reach an operator, my line got disconnected. I wasn’t too happy about that. I had to call them back again and go through the same series of automatic messages. The second time around, I was able to speak to a live operator. I gave them my name and information, and they put me on hold for ten minutes. Then they told me they made a mistake and said that I should receive my rebate of $10 in 4 – 6 weeks.

Rebates are a hassle.
